Here you will find teaching strategies from the Tenacious Teacher as well as resources for bringing reading and writing into any classroom experience. The pages on this site are written to help teachers convey the importance of reading and writing as well as the specific knowledge to improve these necessary skills.
Reading
It's hard for students to escape the need to read to access the information teachers present to them.
As teachers we want our students to connect with our subject's fascinating content. We want students to feel history come alive, travel around the world, solve engineering problems or conduct scientific experiements. So many of these exciting projects require some amount of reading.
We want students to read a lot. We want them to understand what they read and to read it quickly so we can get on to the good stuff! The Teaching Experience provides resources for teachers to help their students become speed readers with high comprehension and retention of what they read.
Teaching Writing
Writing is a great way to help students understand what they are learning, to help them verbalize it and finally to get them to apply it beyond the classroom.
